## Why it looked like it would break the theory

The Abraham–Minkowski dispute leaves the division of momentum between field and matter unsettled. This can look like an action without a determinate reaction.

## Why it failed

**The counterexample failed** because the disagreement concerns allocation, not whether an effect exists. DSRP requires affect and effect; it does not require equal magnitudes, simultaneous response, or universal agreement about where the effect is assigned.
