# Entanglement alone against part-whole

## Why it looked like it would break the theory

An entangled quantum system cannot be decomposed into independent quantum states for its constituent parts. Because the whole possesses properties that cannot be reduced to independently specified properties of its parts, entanglement appears to challenge the System pattern.

## Why it failed

**The counterexample failed** because entanglement does not eliminate the part–whole structure. The entangled system still has parts, the whole still contains those parts, and the parts still belong to the whole. Under S := p ↔ w through contains/belongs, independent, separable, or individually specifiable part states are not required. Entanglement changes the state and dependencies within the system, not the existence of the System pattern.
