# The momentary standpoint of an occasion

## Why it looked like it would break the theory

A Whiteheadian occasion is momentary rather than a persisting conscious subject. If perspective requires an enduring observer, the point–view pattern appears unavailable.

## Why it failed

**The counterexample failed** because Perspective is structural, not anthropomorphic. An occasion can instantiate a point and a view without being a persisting human observer. Its momentary standpoint is sufficient for the point–view structure.
