# Total momentum conservation in classical electromagnetism

## Why it looked like it would break the theory

In classical electromagnetism, action and reaction between material bodies can appear unequal unless momentum carried by the electromagnetic field is included. This appears to challenge the Relationship pattern when the reaction is delayed, distributed, or located in the field rather than in a second material object.

## Why it failed

**The counterexample failed** because R := a ↔ r through affects/effects does not require a = r. It requires an affect–effect structure, not equality of magnitude, simultaneity, direct transfer, or spatial colocation. Field momentum changes how action and reaction are distributed; it does not eliminate the Relationship pattern.
