A Cornell Chronicle story by Susan Lang on a survey of nearly 300 Cornell faculty ranking the world's most pressing and most solvable problems, with Derek Cabrera as lead author.

### What they found (results)

Climate change ranked as the most critical global crisis and insufficient science education as the most solvable one; the study used concept mapping developed at Cornell, which summarizes how a group conceptualizes a topic through brainstorming, sorting, and rating. Cabrera points out that the primary finding is that disagreement between disciplines and scientists is a crisis of cognition requiring us to see the invisible structure that underlies how we think.
