The Universal & Atomic Elements of Organization
A falsifiable scientific theory proposing that the same irreducible structures organize both thought and reality — from the quantum to the social scale.
O-Theory proposes that four irreducible structures — Distinctions, Systems, Relationships and Perspectives (DSRP) — form the universal grammar of organization. Rather than being merely useful ways of thinking, these structures are hypothesized to be the atomic elements from which every organized phenomenon emerges, whether in cognition, biology, physics, mathematics, society, or the cosmos.

This is a living scientific evidence compendium: an open, continually evolving collection of independent empirical research, formal theory, mathematical proofs, cross-disciplinary analyses, applications, critiques, and proposed falsifications. Every entry is included because it supports, refines, challenges, or attempts to falsify the theory.
Scientific theories are strengthened not only by evidence that confirms their predictions, but also by surviving attempts to falsify them. This compendium brings both together: independent evidence from researchers who were not testing DSRP and proposed counterexamples evaluated against the formal theory.
One counterexample is enough to falsify O-Theory. Until then, the question remains: do the same four structures organize everything from quantum systems to human thought?
Independent convergence is one of the strongest forms of scientific evidence because researchers arrive at the same conclusion while investigating different questions for different reasons.
The number is not the point. Researchers in different fields, studying different questions with different methods, repeatedly arrived at the same structural predictions—almost always without testing DSRP or using its language.

The collection is updated continuously, so the citation carries the date you consulted it rather than a study count — the count changes weekly, and putting it in the reference would make the same collection look like a different work to everyone who cites it. To cite a single claim or study, use its own address: every one has a permanent link.
This is the adversarial half of the compendium. Where the evidence track asks what converges on DSRP, this one asks what would end it: a single organized phenomenon whose structure needs a fifth pattern, a ninth element, or a fifth structural dynamic. It holds written up from candidates across territories, and resolutions — the general answers those cases settle against. Every case is published whether it held or failed, including the ones still open.
Cite this rather than the evidence collection when the point is what survived attack. The two are separate works with separate addresses: one asks what converges on the theory, the other asks what would end it, and a reference to the first does not support a claim about the second. Case and resolution numbers change when the record is revised, so cite a case by its own permanent link rather than by number.

Mental fitness is increasingly invoked as a proactive answer to escalating cognitive strain and burnout, yet the term is often treated as a slogan rather than a measurable construct. To test whether “mental fitness” is becoming scientifically coherent—or remaining a loose rhetorical umbrella—we conducted a citation-weighted systematic literature review of 46 highly cited, conceptually relevant studies spanning psychology, neuroscience, education, health, and performance contexts. We use mental fitness rather than brain fitness to emphasize that the target is not the organ in isolation, but embodied, situated, and connected adaptive functioning—how cognitive organization is expressed through coupled emotional, motivational, and physical constraints in real contexts. Instead of asking whether any single intervention “works,” we ask a more foundational question: what is the structure of the mental-fitness literature itself? Three review hypotheses evaluated (i) whether the field exhibits conceptual convergence, (ii) whether measurement has stabilized or remains fragmented, and (iii) what the joint pattern implies for cumulative science. Results show striking convergence in how mental fitness is framed—with near-universal overlap across four recurring elements: systemic metacognition, repetitive practice, multidomain integration, and adaptive capacity—despite the absence of a single formal definition or unified mechanism. In sharp contrast, the field remains measurement-fragmented, distributing operationalizations across six distinct modes with no dominant standard. This combination—shared conceptual grammar without shared measurement infrastructure—marks an intermediate stage of construct maturity and implies a non-trivial need for a convergent, edumetric, performance-sensitive metric capable of tracking change with practice and performance-in-context. We argue that this emerging profile also clarifies a practical cognitive phenomenon underexplained by dual-process models: a third mode of cognition—System III thinking—in which structured metacognition and practice enable fast, accurate, and adaptable performance under pressure. Together, the findings reposition mental fitness as an emergent, empirically tractable science and define the constraints that any candidate metric or training system must satisfy to move the field forward.
Findings: Across 46 full-text studies, the review found strong support for three hypotheses. First, despite substantial variation in formal definitions, the literature showed remarkable conceptual convergence. Four framing elements appeared at near-universal levels: multidomain integration (46/46), repetitive practice (45/46), systemic metacognition (44/46), and adaptive capacity (44/46). These results indicate convergence in framing vocabulary and conceptual emphasis rather than a single formal definition or unified mechanism. Second, measurement remained highly fragmented, with no de facto standard approach. Studies were distributed across psychometric (11), qualitative-only (11), physiological (10), performance/task (6), behavioral/observational (4), and composite/index (4) methods, with the largest category representing only 23.9% (11/46) of the literature. Thus, methodological diversity persists even where conceptual framing converges. Third, taken together, the strong conceptual convergence identified in H1 and the persistent measurement fragmentation identified in H2 imply a practical need for a convergent mental fitness metric. This conclusion is a logical synthesis of the two empirical findings rather than a separately coded result and should be interpreted as a directional implication from the observed structure of the literature, not as evidence for the validity of any particular measurement instrument.
