## In authors' words

### What they set out to do (purpose)

Surveys preschool teachers and professional staff in Slovenian kindergartens on their systemic thinking, using a three-part questionnaire whose third part asks respondents to rate the perceived importance and the frequency of use of each of the four DSRP rules.

### What they found (results)

The relationship and distinction rules were the most commonly perceived and used, while the systems and perspectives rules were reported as needing greater application for deeper understanding and resolution of complex situations. Staff showed well-developed foundational aspects of systemic thinking but were weaker at recognizing variations and multiple causes. Older and rural educators scored higher on systemic thinking.

## Commentary

### In short

This operationalizes DSRP as a measurement instrument rather than citing it, and it produces differentiated results per Pattern, which is what makes it worth a row. The finding that R and D are perceived and used most while S and P lag is the shape the Cognitive Pareto Law predicts, arrived at by a sole author with no Cabrera involvement who was not testing that prediction. Treat it as suggestive rather than confirmatory: it measures self-reported perception and frequency, not coded cognition, and the sample is one country's preschool workforce.

### In more detail

English title: "Systemic thinking of preschool teachers and professional staff in kindergartens." Diploma thesis, University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Education. Supervisor Stanislav Avsec, co-supervisor Brina Kurent. Questionnaire in three parts: self-assessment of improvement behaviors, technical education practices, and perception of the DSRP model rules. Keywords: preschool education, preschool teachers, technical education, systemic thinking, skills, competencies.

### Response

A Slovenian thesis that turns DSRP into a measurement instrument, asking preschool staff to rate the perceived importance and frequency of use of each of the four rules. Relationships and distinctions came out highest, systems and perspectives lowest — a per-pattern result rather than a single score, which is what makes it usable as evidence rather than as citation.
