## In authors' words

### What they found (results)

Using Lagrangian particle tracking on reanalysis data, the authors find Mars's single-cell Hadley circulation produces dynamical barriers preventing material mixing between the inside and outside of the cell, while simultaneously enabling direct pole-to-pole teleconnection, a regime attributed to Mars's rapid rotation and thin atmosphere.

## Commentary

### In short

A single coherent circulation system (the whole) creates a dynamical boundary that isolates material inside versus outside it (a distinction), while that same whole-system structure causally links the two poles (a relationship).
