Plagioclase crystal chemistry from a 4.0-4.4 Ma pumice succession in the Izu rear-arc revealed two distinct compositional populations (An 30-60 and An 75-95) reflecting magma stored and mixed across four discrete depth levels, from 30-38 km mantle-wedge pockets up to 4-6 km upper-crustal reservoirs.
