## In authors' words

### What they set out to do (purpose)

A German-language guide, written by a systemic practitioner for prospective clients and general readers, that sets out to teach systems thinking as a learnable skill and presents DSRP as the framework by which to practice it.

### How they did it (methods)

The piece first contrasts linear with circular thinking and introduces the idea of a system, then devotes a section to each of the four patterns, each with a short definition, a personal or client example, and an illustration. Distinctions are used to separate what bears on a problem from what does not, by listing stress factors. Systems group the relevant factors into nested wholes. Relationships are mapped as influence loops, including a couple's cycle of distance and pursuit. Perspectives are taught through a chair exercise with an I-seat, a you-seat, and an observer seat. The framework is then applied end to end to a hypothetical family gathering, followed by four exercises and a closing section linking the method to the author's constellation work and workshops.

### What they found (results)

Weitnauer concludes that DSRP is a complete tool for systemic thinking, calling it an ultimate concept, and presents the four patterns as a practical sequence readers can apply to their own situations.

## Commentary

### In short

The value of this piece is as a record of how DSRP travels into German-language systemic counseling practice, a setting with its own long tradition and vocabulary. The four patterns are restated correctly and each is given a worked example rather than a definition alone, and the perspectives section is the strongest: the three-chair exercise is a recognizable practitioner technique, and treating it as point-view perspective-taking is a fair reading of what the exercise does. Two things are off. The piece attributes the framework to David Cabrera in one place and to Derek and Laura Cabrera in another, and only the second is correct. And it presents the four patterns as four steps to work through in order, which is not the theory's claim: the patterns are structures that co-occur and compose, so a distinction is already made from a perspective and a relationship can itself be distinguished or broken into parts. The piece cites no publication and no finding, linking only to the lab's website, so a reader who wants the evidence for the universality claim will not find a route to it here.
