### Abstract

They are systems bound together by a network of factors that influence and react with each other, much like a living organism." ... "The goals of this chapter are to describe several frameworks for understanding what is meant by systems thinking, present a brief overview of the vast terrain of systems concepts, suggest an integrated view of the idea of systems thinking that is emerging in part from the work conducted in this project, and outline some of the implications of systems thinking for three key stakeholder groups in tobacco control—practitioners, policy makers, and researchers."
