The Universal & Atomic Elements of Organization
A falsifiable scientific theory proposing that the same irreducible structures organize both thought and reality — from the quantum to the social scale.
O-Theory proposes that four irreducible structures — Distinctions, Systems, Relationships and Perspectives (DSRP) — form the universal grammar of organization. Rather than being merely useful ways of thinking, these structures are hypothesized to be the atomic elements from which every organized phenomenon emerges, whether in cognition, biology, physics, mathematics, society, or the cosmos.

This is a living scientific evidence compendium: an open, continually evolving collection of independent empirical research, formal theory, mathematical proofs, cross-disciplinary analyses, applications, critiques, and proposed falsifications. Every entry is included because it supports, refines, challenges, or attempts to falsify the theory.
Scientific theories are strengthened not only by evidence that confirms their predictions, but also by surviving attempts to falsify them. This compendium brings both together: independent evidence from researchers who were not testing DSRP and proposed counterexamples evaluated against the formal theory.
One counterexample is enough to falsify O-Theory. Until then, the question remains: do the same four structures organize everything from quantum systems to human thought?
Independent convergence is one of the strongest forms of scientific evidence because researchers arrive at the same conclusion while investigating different questions for different reasons.
The number is not the point. Researchers in different fields, studying different questions with different methods, repeatedly arrived at the same structural predictions—almost always without testing DSRP or using its language.

That paper is the peer-reviewed foundation. What you see here is its living, continuously updated version . New studies are checked before they are added, and the collection now holds and keeps growing. The collection is updated continuously, so the citation carries the date you consulted it rather than a study count — the count changes weekly, and putting it in the reference would make the same collection look like a different work to everyone who cites it. To cite a single claim or study, use its own address: every one has a permanent link.
This is the adversarial half of the compendium. Where the evidence track asks what converges on DSRP, this one asks what would end it: a single organized phenomenon whose structure needs a fifth pattern, a ninth element, or a fifth structural dynamic. It holds written up from candidates across territories, and resolutions — the general answers those cases settle against. Every case is published whether it held or failed, including the ones still open.
Cite this rather than the evidence collection when the point is what survived attack. The two are separate works with separate addresses: one asks what converges on the theory, the other asks what would end it, and a reference to the first does not support a claim about the second. Case and resolution numbers change when the record is revised, so cite a case by its own permanent link rather than by number.

Most practice does not model organization at all. Understanding is treated as a function of information: more data, more evidence, more coverage, more training examples. Organization, where it appears, is presentation — style, or clarity, or something a good communicator adds afterward. That is why an organization responds to a bad decision by gathering more facts. A more generous version says information and organization both contribute and add up. That one is already a concession, and it is still wrong. The claim here is that understanding is a product. Information times organization. And a product behaves in a way neither alternative does: if either factor goes to zero, the result goes to zero, and no amount of the other rescues it. All the information in the world, organized wrongly, yields nothing. A perfect structure with nothing in it yields nothing either. This is a claim about form, and it is testable in the strict sense. Given a surface of outcomes across varying information and varying organization, the three candidates predict different shapes. One of them fits better. There is no interpretive room. The consequence cuts against ordinary practice. When something is not understood, the standard move is to add information. If the form is multiplicative, that move fails whenever organization is the limiting factor — and it fails completely, not partially.
Understanding is information times organization. It is not information alone, and it is not information plus organization. The three differ where it matters. If understanding were information alone, organization would be presentation — a matter of style, not substance. If it were a sum, organization would contribute something on its own and a shortfall in one could be covered by more of the other. Because it is a product, either factor at zero takes the result to zero, and no amount of the other makes it up. Read in symbols: a mental model (𝕄) equals information (I) multiplied by organization (O); it does not equal information by itself, and it does not equal information plus organization. The ∧ means all three parts are asserted together — the claim is not only that the product fits, but that the two standing alternatives do not. Three forms were on the table and one of them wins.
Understanding is information alone, or information plus organization, or some other function of the two that is not their product. Any of these fitting as well or better ends the claim. Read in symbols: a mental model (𝕄) equals information by itself, or (∨) information plus organization, or some function f of information and organization that is not their product. The disjunction matters — the claim does not survive by beating one rival. It has to beat the plain information model, the additive model, and any better-fitting form anyone proposes. The third term is deliberately open: if a form nobody has written down yet fits the surface better, the claim is wrong.
The product form makes one prediction nothing else makes: either factor at zero takes the result to zero. That prediction has now been checked in five places that share almost nothing. The direct test fit three candidate surfaces — additive, additive-with-interaction, and product — to nine combinations of dataset and machine-learning architecture, against a criterion fixed in advance and external to the instrument. The product won. It also won regionally: it governs the middle of the plane while the edges go additive where one factor is acting alone. Nobody fitting a curve to a preferred answer would produce a surface that changes behaviour in different regions. The other four attack the same form from different directions. In language, 600 benchmark items showed interpretation accuracy rising thirteenfold with structure while information quantity alone predicted nothing. A raw numeric stream run as a negative control gave maximum information, zero organization, and no explanatory structure at all — which an additive model cannot account for, since information alone should have contributed something. In simulated relationships, effort below a structural threshold closed no gap at any level. And in congressional speech, structural load predicted behavioural change with document length held constant, isolating organization while the amount of material stayed fixed. Machine learning, language benchmarks, raw data, human relationships, political speech. Five materials, five failure modes, one shape.
