# What is organization (O)?

## The research claim

Every discipline carries its own account of how things are organized — hierarchies and feedback in systems theory, part-whole relations in mereology, objects and morphisms in category theory, universals and particulars in formal ontology. Each works inside its domain. None claims to be the inventory, and none states what would show it was wrong. This one does. Organization is DSRP-484: four patterns, eight elements, four dynamics. O ≡ DSRP-484 The patterns are Distinctions, Systems, Relationships, and Perspectives. Each carries two elements (i:o, p:w, a:r, v:ṗ). Equality, Coimplication, Simultaneity, and Enclosure specify how the patterns and elements constitute organization rather than merely listing its parts. The claim is not that these are useful categories. It is that they are complete. Nothing organized requires a fifth pattern, a ninth element, or a fifth dynamic.

## What would confirm it

Organization is four patterns, eight elements, and four dynamics — exactly those, and no others. These are explained in the DSRP-484 Calculus and contextualized by O-Theory. ## What would refute it

Something organized exists that cannot be represented without adding a fifth pattern, a ninth element, or a fifth dynamic. Not something the calculus describes awkwardly — something it cannot describe without being enlarged.

Read in symbols: there exists (∃) some organized thing x whose organization O(x) cannot be derived (⊬) within DSRP-484. The claim fails the moment one such thing is produced, and adding to the inventory to accommodate it is not available.

## The evidence, and why this status

Each of the eight elements has its own program of experiments, and that is what separates this from a taxonomy. A taxonomy sorts things. Here every element was manipulated and something measurable moved: the same screen region worked as an identity or as an other depending on the condition, the same object was named differently depending on what surrounded it, and the same picture yielded a different thing depending on the point of view taken. Two results carry more weight than the rest, because both could easily have come out otherwise. Asked to select everything that is not a red circle, people could have picked at random, or negated every feature at once. They did neither. The selections ordered themselves by how many features had been negated, one at a time — a graded pattern nobody proposed in advance. And when tens of thousands of people used the structure with no instruction at all, use was wildly uneven rather than flat. An arbitrary set of categories would have been used evenly. One study is not from this lab and did not confirm the theory. It narrowed it, cutting the alignment claim back to what can be tested directly. A framework that outsiders only ever confirm is worth less than one they correct. The remaining works state the calculus rather than testing it. Several name it as 483 or 4–8–3, which is the historical numbering. All four dynamics are measured in the studies here rather than assumed.
