# R1001. Time Is Built from Distinction and Relationship

On Model Adequacy

Does change require time as a primitive outside DSRP?

## Short answer

No. Every change is a difference, and difference is a Distinction between identity and other. Order comes from the Relationship between action and reaction.

## Complete explanation

Not every difference is a change, but every change is a difference. Before and after are themselves a distinction, and action and reaction order them. Time can also be organized like any other identity. It has identities and others, parts and wholes, relationships, and points and views. Naming time in a formula does not add it to the calculus, because the calculus has no primitive for the content it organizes.

## Why the apparent counterexample arises

The apparent difficulty arises because time is assumed to be something the structure must run on. Time is then treated as a missing primitive when it can be built from D and R.
