# A decagon wave around Saturn's south pole

Saturn's south-polar atmosphere organizes into a coherent whole-system wave spanning multiple atmospheric layers, categorically distinct from previously known polar jet patterns.

## What they found (results)

A decade of Hubble and ground-based imaging revealed a persistent ten-sided standing wave encircling Saturn's south pole, strengthening since 2023 and extending through multiple atmospheric depths — the first large regular jet pattern seen in Saturn's southern hemisphere.
