# Rotational broadening of exoplanet spectra in arbitrarily oriented systems: Application to reflected light

The same physical planet yields a substantially different measured signal purely as a function of the geometric vantage point from which it is observed, with the broadening kernel coupled to that orientation.

## What they found (results)

Deriving rotational-broadening kernels for arbitrarily oriented star-planet systems, the authors find the reflected-light spectrum of a non-aligned system's broadening differs from a prograde-aligned system's by roughly 50%.
