O-Theory proposes that four irreducible structures — Distinctions, Systems, Relationships and Perspectives (DSRP) — form the universal grammar of organization. Rather than being merely useful ways of thinking, these structures are hypothesized to be the atomic elements from which every organized phenomenon emerges, whether in cognition, biology, physics, mathematics, society, or the cosmos.

This is a living scientific evidence compendium: an open, continually evolving collection of independent empirical research, formal theory, mathematical proofs, cross-disciplinary analyses, applications, critiques, and proposed falsifications. Every entry is included because it supports, refines, challenges, or attempts to falsify the theory.

Scientific theories are strengthened not only by evidence that confirms their predictions, but also by surviving attempts to falsify them. This compendium brings both together: independent evidence from researchers who were not testing DSRP and proposed counterexamples evaluated against the formal theory.

One counterexample is enough to falsify O-Theory. Until then, the question remains: do the same four structures organize everything from quantum systems to human thought?

The number is not the point. Researchers in different fields, studying different questions with different methods, repeatedly arrived at the same structural predictions—almost always without testing DSRP or using its language.

About this record

This is the adversarial half of the compendium. Where the evidence track asks what converges on DSRP, this one asks what would end it: a single organized phenomenon whose structure needs a fifth pattern, a ninth element, or a fifth structural dynamic. It holds written up from candidates across territories, and resolutions — the general answers those cases settle against. Every case is published whether it held or failed, including the ones still open.

Cite this rather than the evidence collection when the point is what survived attack. The two are separate works with separate addresses: one asks what converges on the theory, the other asks what would end it, and a reference to the first does not support a claim about the second. Case and resolution numbers change when the record is revised, so cite a case by its own permanent link rather than by number.

Does this organization (O) exist in reality?

The research claim

Every science carries an ontology — assumptions about what exists and how it is put together. Physics has particles and fields, chemistry has bonds, biology has cells and populations, sociology has roles and institutions. Formal ontologies try to sit above these and name the categories they share. What holds those up is worth looking at. Some rest on a philosopher's authority. Some rest on their own starting axioms, offered back as support. Some rest on matching how the sciences already sort things — though nothing in nature separates physics from chemistry from biology, and nothing in nature settles what a species is either, which is why there are two dozen definitions of that and all of them are ours. What none of them says is what would show it was wrong. This claim is that reality is organized by the same four patterns, eight elements, and four dynamics that organize thought. Not that minds project that structure onto the world — the reverse: that minds get this structure from the world. Not that the world resembles it. That the world is organized this way whether or not anyone is looking. A word about what evidence for a claim like this can be. No measurement escapes the mind. Every instrument was designed by someone, every reading is interpreted through a model someone holds, and that is true of every claim any science has ever made about anything. The question is not whether a mind is in the loop. It always is. The question is whether the world is given a chance to say no. So the test is whether a prediction can fail against something the model does not control. Whether the patient had cancer. Whether the benchmark answer is right. Whether a partner's life matches what you believe about it. Whether the policy works. Those answers do not come from us.

What would confirm it

Everything organized in reality is organized by the four patterns, eight elements, and four dynamics. Not most things. Not things at some scales. Everything, whether or not any mind is looking at it. Read in symbols: for every (∀) organized thing (x) in reality (ℝ), the organization of that thing (O(x)) is identical to (≡) the four patterns, eight elements, and four dynamics (DSRP-484). This says nothing about how much information the thing carries — only about how that information is organized.

What would refute it

Something in reality is organized by something the calculus does not name. One system, anywhere, at any scale, needs a fifth pattern, a ninth element, or a fifth dynamic. Read in symbols: there exists (∃) at least one organized thing (x) in reality (ℝ) whose organization (O(x)) is not identical to (≢) the four patterns, eight elements, and four dynamics (DSRP-484). One system is enough. A claim about everything is undone by any single thing.

The evidence, and why this status

These studies have almost nothing in common except the result. Machine learning runs, congressional speech, language benchmarks, married couples, psychophysics tasks, explanatory writing from six disciplines. Different materials, different measures, different people, different failure modes. Each one puts organization against an outcome the subject does not control, and organization predicts the outcome every time. What makes them evidence rather than illustration is that each was scored against something fixed in advance and outside the researcher's reach. The patient had cancer or did not. The record says what was actually said. The partner has a life of her own. When the criterion comes from outside, a wrong theory has somewhere to fail. One of them has something the others cannot get, which is an answer key. The causal structure of a public problem was established independently, before anyone was surveyed about it, so the right model was on record in advance. That turns a mismatch between model and reality from an interpretation into a measurement. Almost nothing in cognitive science has this. Two of the studies work as controls on the rest. Narrative prose scored under identical rules returns a co-implication index less than half what explanatory passages return, so the coding protocol is not finding structure wherever it looks. And unprompted structural use follows a power law rather than falling evenly, which is not what an arbitrary description would produce. The last two are a matched pair and they measure opposite things. One counts independent findings from researchers who have never heard of this work. The other hunts for the single system that would end the claim. A large count of hits and a zero count of misses are different measurements, and a claim about everything needs both.
