The Universal & Atomic Elements of Organization
A falsifiable scientific theory proposing that the same irreducible structures organize both thought and reality — from the quantum to the social scale.
O-Theory proposes that four irreducible structures — Distinctions, Systems, Relationships and Perspectives (DSRP) — form the universal grammar of organization. Rather than being merely useful ways of thinking, these structures are hypothesized to be the atomic elements from which every organized phenomenon emerges, whether in cognition, biology, physics, mathematics, society, or the cosmos.

This is a living scientific evidence compendium: an open, continually evolving collection of independent empirical research, formal theory, mathematical proofs, cross-disciplinary analyses, applications, critiques, and proposed falsifications. Every entry is included because it supports, refines, challenges, or attempts to falsify the theory.
Scientific theories are strengthened not only by evidence that confirms their predictions, but also by surviving attempts to falsify them. This compendium brings both together: independent evidence from researchers who were not testing DSRP and proposed counterexamples evaluated against the formal theory.
One counterexample is enough to falsify O-Theory. Until then, the question remains: do the same four structures organize everything from quantum systems to human thought?
Independent convergence is one of the strongest forms of scientific evidence because researchers arrive at the same conclusion while investigating different questions for different reasons.
The number is not the point. Researchers in different fields, studying different questions with different methods, repeatedly arrived at the same structural predictions—almost always without testing DSRP or using its language.

The collection is updated continuously, so the citation carries the date you consulted it rather than a study count — the count changes weekly, and putting it in the reference would make the same collection look like a different work to everyone who cites it. To cite a single claim or study, use its own address: every one has a permanent link.
This is the adversarial half of the compendium. Where the evidence track asks what converges on DSRP, this one asks what would end it: a single organized phenomenon whose structure needs a fifth pattern, a ninth element, or a fifth structural dynamic. It holds written up from candidates across territories, and resolutions — the general answers those cases settle against. Every case is published whether it held or failed, including the ones still open.
Cite this rather than the evidence collection when the point is what survived attack. The two are separate works with separate addresses: one asks what converges on the theory, the other asks what would end it, and a reference to the first does not support a claim about the second. Case and resolution numbers change when the record is revised, so cite a case by its own permanent link rather than by number.

The serious objection to a universal framework is not that it is false. It is that it might be empty. A scheme broad enough to describe anything rules nothing out, and a scheme that rules nothing out predicts nothing. On that reading, finding the four patterns in a hundred and eighty-eight studies would show only that four categories are capacious. The objection is right about what would settle it. A framework earns its keep two ways: by forbidding, and by producing. It forbids when it says in advance that something will not be observed, and it is not. It produces when it generates a regularity no vocabulary had any reason to generate. Vocabularies do neither. What it forbids. Each of the four dynamics rules something out, and each rule is specific enough to check. Coimplication forbids half a pattern: no identity without an other, no part without a whole, no action without a reaction, no point without a view. Equality forbids an element being barred from either role — whatever can be an identity can be an other, and the same for part and whole, action and reaction, point and view. Simultaneity forbids an identity being stopped from playing any of the elemental roles at once. Enclosure forbids the removal of one pattern while the rest keep working: take one away and none of them work. Beyond the dynamics, the product form forbids compensation — no amount of information makes up for missing organization — and the loop forbids effort substituting for structure. And the whole inventory forbids a fifth of anything. A prohibition of that shape invites one reply: that it can always be satisfied. Show a case with parts and no whole, and someone will point at the collection of them and call that the whole, so nothing could ever fail. That asks the wrong thing of a whole. The claim is structural, not informational. A whole does not have to be named, carve nature, or predict further members — it has to have a boundary. Parentheses round three items make one, and so does a category; neither is structurally better than the other. What is forbidden is parts with no containment at all, and that stays a real prohibition even though every actual grouping satisfies it — in the same way that every distinction having an other is real without being informative about any particular distinction. Nor is the line a matter of taste. An operation enters the moves catalog only when its information requirements over organizational structures fall below 0.25, structure dominating content, and fifty-four candidates are held unadmitted for failing that or one of four other tests. What it produces. The calculus makes structural predictions that are not contained in the mental model doing the predicting. It says what must be present given what is already there, and then you go and look. That is what questioning is: backfilling a structure with information you did not have. Ask where the liver is in a picture with no liver drawn, and people find the place — the structure said a part had to be there, and the information came second. This is a mechanism no vocabulary supplies.
DSRP-484 makes structural constraints and predictions. It rules configurations out, and it says what must be present in a structure before anyone has looked. Read in symbols: there exists (∃) at least one configuration (c) the calculus does not permit (¬Permitted) — something it says will not be observed. And there exists at least one structural prediction (r) the calculus generates (Predicted) that was not already contained in the mental model making it (¬Contained in 𝕄). The first conjunct is the constraint. The second is the structural prediction. A vocabulary has neither: it permits every configuration, and it returns only what was put into it.
The calculus permits every possible organization. It forbids nothing, so it predicts nothing, and fitting N studies means only that four categories are broad. Read in symbols: for every (∀) configuration (c), the calculus permits it — nothing is ruled out. Or, for every structural prediction (r) the calculus generates, that prediction was already contained in the mental model making it (Contained in 𝕄) — nothing new comes out. The two are joined by "or" (∨) rather than "and" because either one alone is fatal. A framework that constrains nothing is empty even if it appears productive, and a framework that produces nothing new is empty even if it appears to constrain.
Every study here does one of two jobs. It tests a prohibition that could have failed, or it produces a regularity no vocabulary would have generated. The prohibitions were on the record before the checks were run. A mind could assert an identity while holding no other; none did. More information could compensate for missing organization; across nine combinations of dataset and architecture, performance collapsed to chance whenever either term went to zero, and a separate study of 600 language items found information quantity predicting nothing at all on its own. Effort could substitute for structure; below a structural threshold the alignment loop failed however hard the parties tried. And a system could turn up needing a fifth pattern. Sixty-four candidates were hunted and none held. What is worth checking in that record is that no case has ever been answered by adding to the inventory. One study exists only to test whether the coding finds structure wherever it looks. Coherent narrative prose, scored under identical rules, returned less than half the score of explanatory passages. Coherence alone does not produce the signature. The productive half is smaller and stranger. Watching tens of thousands of people use structure with no instruction returned a clean power law — a distribution the calculus does not contain and nobody would have guessed. Another study makes the productive claim exact by counting: given the things in a model, the structure it could contain is calculable, so the places nobody has looked can be enumerated rather than thought of. And in one case the calculus said a pattern was operating where people never reported it, someone went looking on that basis, and the largest effects in the whole set were there.
