The Universal & Atomic Elements of Organization
A falsifiable scientific theory proposing that the same irreducible structures organize both thought and reality — from the quantum to the social scale.
O-Theory proposes that four irreducible structures — Distinctions, Systems, Relationships and Perspectives (DSRP) — form the universal grammar of organization. Rather than being merely useful ways of thinking, these structures are hypothesized to be the atomic elements from which every organized phenomenon emerges, whether in cognition, biology, physics, mathematics, society, or the cosmos.

This is a living scientific evidence compendium: an open, continually evolving collection of independent empirical research, formal theory, mathematical proofs, cross-disciplinary analyses, applications, critiques, and proposed falsifications. Every entry is included because it supports, refines, challenges, or attempts to falsify the theory.
Scientific theories are strengthened not only by evidence that confirms their predictions, but also by surviving attempts to falsify them. This compendium brings both together: independent evidence from researchers who were not testing DSRP and proposed counterexamples evaluated against the formal theory.
One counterexample is enough to falsify O-Theory. Until then, the question remains: do the same four structures organize everything from quantum systems to human thought?
Independent convergence is one of the strongest forms of scientific evidence because researchers arrive at the same conclusion while investigating different questions for different reasons.
The number is not the point. Researchers in different fields, studying different questions with different methods, repeatedly arrived at the same structural predictions—almost always without testing DSRP or using its language.

The collection is updated continuously, so the citation carries the date you consulted it rather than a study count — the count changes weekly, and putting it in the reference would make the same collection look like a different work to everyone who cites it. To cite a single claim or study, use its own address: every one has a permanent link.
This is the adversarial half of the compendium. Where the evidence track asks what converges on DSRP, this one asks what would end it: a single organized phenomenon whose structure needs a fifth pattern, a ninth element, or a fifth structural dynamic. It holds written up from candidates across territories, and resolutions — the general answers those cases settle against. Every case is published whether it held or failed, including the ones still open.
Cite this rather than the evidence collection when the point is what survived attack. The two are separate works with separate addresses: one asks what converges on the theory, the other asks what would end it, and a reference to the first does not support a claim about the second. Case and resolution numbers change when the record is revised, so cite a case by its own permanent link rather than by number.

A claim that something holds everywhere usually holds everywhere by being about almost nothing. Physics is true at every scale, but the farther you get from the atom the less it tells you. It will not help a sociologist explain why an institution persists, and it will not help a quilter decide what goes next to what. Generality with no substance makes the claim low worth. This claim is different in kind. DSRP-484 — the same four patterns, eight elements, and four dynamics — operates at every scale and in every domain, and it operates at the level people actually work at. Not just in principle, once everything is reduced to particles. In the sentence, the diagram, the argument, the organization, the ecosystem, the galaxy cluster. The right word for this is scale-invariance, in the sense the term carries alongside Lorentz invariance and gauge invariance: the form is unchanged under the transformation. Apply a change of scale and the organizational form is the same form. A distinction at the qubit and a distinction at a cosmic void are not analogies for one another. Both are an identity co-implying an other, and that is the same structure twice. Two things this does not claim. It does not claim self-similarity of content — an atom does not resemble a galaxy, and nothing here says it does. And it carries no scaling exponent, because invariance of form under dilatation does not require one. Where an exponent has been measured, it is for how people use the structure, not for the structure itself. The measurement here is spread, not count. A hundred and eighty-eight studies in one discipline would say a great deal about that discipline and nothing about scale. Across roughly twenty of them, from qubits to cosmic voids, the range is the finding. What this corpus does and does not do is worth stating. It is assembled from studies whose findings exhibit the patterns, so it has no denominator — nobody surveyed a field and recorded the misses. What it establishes is range. The smallest case is an atom sensing its environment, about 10^-10 metres. The largest is a void in the cosmic web, tens of megaparsecs across, about 10^24 metres. That is thirty-four orders of magnitude, and roughly twenty disciplines lie between the two ends. The counterexample record covers the same range from the other direction, and the adversary chose the scales. Entangled pairs and boson statistics at the small end. Gauge fields and holonomy in the middle. Pando, forty thousand stems and one organism. Hyperobjects, which are climate-sized by definition. The non-dual traditions, where "thing" stops applying at all. Seven territories, picked to break the claim at whichever scale looked weakest.
Change the scale and the same organization is operative. The four patterns, eight elements, and four dynamics are at work at the size of an atom, the size of a sentence, the size of an institution, and the size of a galaxy cluster. What they organize is completely different at each. What they are is not. Read in symbols: for any change of scale (∀λ > 0) applied to anything (∀x), the organization of that thing at that scale (O(λx)) is identical to (≡) the four patterns, eight elements, and four dynamics (DSRP-484). λ is the scale factor — how far you zoom in or out. What stays the same is the inventory, not the structure built from it. A qubit and a cosmic void both instantiate an identity co-implying an other. What each one distinguishes has nothing in common.
There is a scale, or a domain, where these are not the operative structure. Not a scale where they are unhelpful, or hard to apply, or where another more specialized vocabulary for that scale works better. A scale where they are absent. The point is that they operate across scale as no specialized vocabulary does, and that the specialized vocabularies are themselves manifestations of DSRP-484. Read in symbols: there exists (∃) some scale (λ) and something at that scale (x) whose organization (O(λx)) is not identical to (≢) the four patterns, eight elements, and four dynamics (DSRP-484). One scale is enough, and one thing at that scale is enough.
The evidence for a claim about scale is the spread, not the count. At one end an atom senses its environment — a point taking a view, at about 10^-10 metres. At the other, cosmologists identify the same voids from a two-dimensional lensing map and from a three-dimensional reconstruction, at about 10^24 metres. Between those sit bacterial chemotaxis, nematodes detecting a pathogen, shrub-ecosystem coupling, erosion, Atlantic teleconnection, and the split between matter and dark energy. Almost all of that comes from researchers with no connection to this work and no interest in these patterns. They reported their own findings in their own vocabulary, and the correspondence was noticed afterward. That is weaker than a designed test in one way and stronger in another: nobody involved could have been trying to produce it. One study is a designed test, and it carries a control. Explanatory passages from six unrelated disciplines were coded under rules fixed in advance, and the structural signature appeared in all six. Narrative prose scored under identical rules returned less than half the score. The protocol is not finding structure wherever it points. The adversarial record runs the other way, and the cases were chosen by people trying to break the claim — entanglement, gauge fields, gunk, a forty-thousand-stem aspen colony, holobionts, siphonophores, the non-dual traditions. Sixty-four attempts across seven territories, at scales picked for difficulty rather than convenience. The applied record is a third kind of evidence. Dozens of published case analyses span cybersecurity, kidney health, water infrastructure, electoral reform, tiger enumeration, supply chains. No specialized vocabulary covers that spread, and the structure was not adapted for each case.
